We have stayed at nearly 20 different hotels over the last few years of travelling to Japan, but this has been the best one yet! - Location is perfect, as it is situated on a quiet street so we always felt well rested, but only a 5 minute walk to Nishiki Market, Life supermarket, and plenty of shopping, department stores, and restaurants within walking distance. We barely needed to take public transit - Very clean and calming atmosphere, right from the moment you step in. Everything is thoughtfully and tastefully decorated and designed with comfort, quality, and elegance in mind. Even the hotel bathrooms were stunning and spotless! - Hotel amenities were excellent! Elevators were nearly instant as there are fewer guests in a boutique hotel. The lounge was the best we’ve ever experienced, with a generous selection of snacks and drinks in a quiet and relaxing environment - Rooms are very spacious and had plenty of space for luggage. Bathrooms are beautifully appointed and feel like a spa - ample counter space, split bathroom design, and relaxing rain shower - Small thoughtful details show a commitment to quality, such as plush slippers, high quality teas from our favourite Ippodo Tea in the room - Staff was so wonderful and treated us with so much warmth and consideration! They moved our luggage to our rooms for us prior to us checking in, and even helped my mother in law prepare fruit for us! We have never experienced service that went above and beyond like this - thank you very much for making our trip so wonderful and memorable, our whole family is grateful! We hope to stay here again soon!

We did not have a chance to get breakfast because we got up early to sight see, but we did love the lounge area. It was kept very neat and tidy and they had wonderful local snacks from around Kyoto to enjoy. We loved them so much we looked for the snacks when we travelled around the Kyoto area. The room was beautiful and so clean. The absolute best value, I was shocked we paid so little. The service was amazing. All the people at the front desk were so kind and accommodating. Even helped me find a charger for my camera that I needed. I would 100% stay here again. Cannot say enough good things about how wonderful the service was. It really exceeded my expectations. Not to mention, super close to train station and convenience stores.

This was the best place we stayed in over our 3 week trip to Japan, excluding doing a Walk Japan trip which was up North and stunning. Our room was extremely spacious, great toiletries. Loved having the Japanese tea and coffee in room. Another wonderful feature was the guest area on the 2nd floor where breakfast was served. We would go in every afternoon after we had returned from our sight seeing adventures and have a complementary drink and nibbles. Amazing little extra. Front of house staff were gorgeous, one of the best meals we had in Kyoto was a recommendation from a lovely young guy at the front desk, he even rang to sort an English menu for us, just so sweet.

Wonderful boutique hotel in a great location, central but off the main tourist craziness. Very large room and great large bathroom for Japanese standards. Sink was within the bathroom but still separate from shower and toilet, we appreciated this. There was also a large open wardrobe. Staff is usually friendly in Japan, but the General Kyoto people were particularly endearing and spoke exzellent English. We didn't mind the non-transparent windows, the room was still very bright. The breakfast is absolutely fine, we got it on the first morning and went out on the second day. There are also a lot of nice restaurants and cafes in the area.

Stunning, modern hotel in a traditional Japanese street in Kyoto. Lots of nice touches in the room such as skincare sachets and other complimentary toiletries. A spacious feel with great hanging room and cupboard. Modern shower & bath. Use of the communal lounge for tea/coffe and afternoon tea and just to relax were a plus. Only one minor negative and that was the mattresses were a bit hard. Overall, I would certainly recommend this hotel. It is also not far from Gion and the main shopping strip with an array of high-end shops, some of which showcase unique Japanese goods. Welcoming staff in a boutique style hotel!
